In this course, you'll delve into the vital skill of strategic systems thinking. You'll familiarize yourself with crucial theories and diverse models tailored to analyze organizational challenges systematically and strategically. While this course is structured around organizational contexts, the principles of strategic systems thinking are equally applicable to social, community and global issues. 

Throughout this course, you'll explore various models, perspectives and tools centered on systems thinking. These resources will empower you to enhance your strategic thinking abilities, particularly in navigating complex or crisis scenarios. Over the span of four weeks, you'll engage with the following models:

  • Four Worlds' Medicine Wheel Analysis
  • Barry Johnson's Polarity Management

  • Systems traps

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand what constitutes systems thinking and recognize its importance in strategic directions and decisions for action
  • Have comfort with the inevitable paradox and uncertainty that accompanies strategic systems thinking
