English for Academic Purposes
Improve your English language proficiency and gain the skills and strategies you need to succeed at university in Canada. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a one, two, or three-semester intensive English program focused on helping students improve their English language, academic, and critical thinking skills.
- Delivered on campus in a full-time, 12-week format
- 25 hours per week of classroom instruction
- Offered 3 times per year (September, January, April)
- Three levels, ranging from intermediate to upper-intermediate level of English

Registration Details
Initial program level is determined by the English language proficiency score report that you submit when you apply to your RRU degree program of choice.

Some courses in English for Academic Purposes are shared with the GLLC’s Global English programs, with the aim of bringing a more diverse range of perspectives into the classroom.
How to Apply
If you have chosen to meet the English language requirement for a degree program at Royal Roads University by completing EAP or UAP, you will be enrolled in the International Pathway Program by the Admissions office once you have been conditionally admitted to your academic program. If you have questions regarding the admission process for a degree program at Royal Roads, please contact International Admissions. If you have not yet applied for a credit program through RRU but would like to improve your English skills, consider one of our Global English options.
