Course Description

This course offers, applies, and practices constructive supervisory methods to ensure organizational performance objectives and behavioral expectations are met. You will gain an understanding of governance requirements and the performance management process.

You will learn about the value of setting expectations and objectives, and the methods of assessing progress and performance. While applying the principles and values of effective leadership, you will also develop the necessary skills for motivating and coaching to effect improvement and achieve results. These practical techniques will be applied to your own circumstances and managerial or supervisory challenges.

Course Outline

In this course, you will:

  • Understand how governance frameworks set the boundaries within which managers must work, and the regulatory, legal, policy, and contractual requirements that require compliance
  • Learn about performance management systems and setting the parameters for evaluation and performance management
  • Explore how your own leadership styles and preferences may aid or hinder your efforts in guiding others
  • Learn how to assess situations requiring attention to improve performance or increase employee commitment
  • Explore motivational strategies, which are often all that is required for employees to focus and perform
  • Choose a course of action for success, including training, coaching, counseling, or disciplining
