Course Description

Welcome to a journey toward Decolonization and the Naturalization of Indigenous worldviews in our work and in our life. Whether this is your first experience with this course content, or you've been Indigenizing your work, this course will offer insights and ideas relevant to your work as a curriculum developer, as an instructor, as a researcher, or in any other role.

You'll work with the 94 Calls to Action proposed by the Report from The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2015) and work to redesign and co-construct new approaches to work in Indigenous contexts and with Indigenous communities.

Course Outline

In this course, you will:

• Expand your knowledge and understanding of Indigenous epistemologies and pedagogies to ‘naturalize’ (Littlebear) their presence in educational contexts
• Apply principles of Reciprocity, Relevance, Relationships, and Respect in your immediate teaching and learning contexts (e.g., the classroom)
• Develop purposefulness when designing courses, pedagogical approaches, and assessments that consider Indigenous learners
• Work individually and collaboratively to redesign and co-construct new approaches to working with Indigenous contexts and communities
• Engage in collaborative enquiry to propose new ideas to decolonize and indigenize your contexts and work
