Course Description

In the Intercultural Foundations for Education (IFE) course, you'll embark on a journey to develop your intercultural teaching and learning competencies. You'll delve into intercultural learning research, applying essential culturally responsive concepts and teaching methods to your practice.

Course Outline

Access interdisciplinary dialogue, instructional materials, and practical learning activities to enrich your teaching approach. This course caters to equity, diversity and inclusion practitioners across academic, school, workplace and community education settings, eager to hone their skills in facilitating intercultural learning.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

• Review the foundational intercultural learning research
• Explore innovative practices in intercultural teaching and learning
• Apply intercultural teaching competencies to common needs and challenges in diverse learning contexts
• Design a lesson plan, learning activity, and/or an assessment to support intercultural learning in your facilitation context

Notes

1. Time requirement: Participants should expect to spend 5-6 hours per week on course activities during each of the four weeks. Continuous, active participation is necessary to make this course a successful learning experience for everyone.
2. There may be the occasional synchronous sessions during this course. These sessions are recorded and attendance is not required.
