Course Description
The Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) is designed to provide you with the foundational theory and skills required to conduct an Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW). While you can transfer the skills acquired in this FDW to various situations, the workshop is specifically tailored to the ISW and related activities, not for general facilitation training.
Course Outline
In this course, you will engage in three distinct roles:
- Learner and Feedback-Giver: Participate in mini-lessons and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Instructor: Conduct a mini-lesson on three separate occasions.
- Facilitator: Lead three mini-lesson/feedback cycles.
Throughout the workshop, you will develop confidence in group facilitation skills and the use of video recording equipment essential for facilitating ISW workshops.
You will also learn to:
- Instruct mini-lessons effectively
- Give honest, objective, and helpful feedback
- Facilitate feedback sessions, focusing on the basic elements of the mini-lessons observed and the personal goals of instructors
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Facilitate ISW workshops with increased confidence
- Instruct effective mini-lessons
- Provide constructive and objective feedback to peers
- Use video recording equipment necessary for ISW workshops
- Lead feedback sessions that focus on key lesson elements and instructors' personal goals
