Course Description

Using a wellness model to highlight the areas for a sustainable work life, we will draw from the evidence in the fields of neuroscience, human behaviour and physical performance. With this understanding we can identify strategies for daily practice that will balance a healthy body and brain. Identifying the indicators and determinants of distress within the workplace can help you design personal and organizational practices to increase resiliency for health. The learning in this course will be experiential in nature, followed by a case study approach to put it all together and confidently take these resources into work and life.

 

Learner Outcomes

  • Understand the landscape of workplace well-being in Canada, and some of the work/research being done to foster sustainable workplaces.

  • Learn workplace health theories and the factors that apply to you in your workplace. 

  • Both system wide theories and individual theories found within the science of happiness.

  • Mental Thriving - what is it and how to build in these pillars of excellence into your daily life.

  • Understand the body and mind connection and tools to utilize our physiology for stress reduction and positive coping.

  • Discussions and collaboration on creating a roadmap for sustainable health and the benefits of case studies to help take action when you head back to work.
