COAC045 - Coaching with LEADS
Course Description
This course is designed for practicing coaches and provides an orientation to the LEADS framework, especially for coaching clients who use the framework for leadership development.
In this course, you will learn how the framework provides a language and structure for learning to lead. You'll explore the nuances of coaching to the client's agenda while using the LEADS framework as a guide. International Coach Federation (ICF) Continuing Education Credits will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
Course Outline
In this course, you will:
- Learn about the LEADS in a Caring Environment Health Leadership Capability Framework, widely adopted by health agencies in Canada
- Understand the framework's application for developing leadership capacity, performance development, succession planning, and leadership education
- Participate in online readings, discussion forums, and weekly webinar sessions
- Collaborate with peers through reflective and learning partner work
This course meets the eligibility requirements for LEADS Coach certification through the Canadian College of Health Leaders Learning Model. Full participation in the online sessions is required, with an estimated time commitment of:
- 1.5 hours per week for webinars
- 1.5 hours per week for reflective work
- one hour per week for online reading and discussion
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Increase your awareness of the 5 major domains and 20 capabilities of the LEADS framework
- Listen more effectively for LEADS capabilities in your clients' experiences
- Use LEADS-based questions to help focus your clients' learning
- Use LEADS-based language with clients to:
- Increase their awareness of the dimensions of their leadership
- Create goals for development
- Design new actions to meet their goals
