Course Description

Move beyond an organizational lifecycle approach to change by considering the possibilities of navigating change as a strategy for introducing innovation, pushing through disruptive change, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders in service of achieving desired community and organizational outcomes. This course explores approaches to navigating change that increases collaboration and internal, external and community stakeholder engagement while mitigating the risks associated with poorly managed change. Virtually every organization - whether public, private, or not-for-profit - is responsible for implementing changes to structures, processes, or technology from time to time. Employing an effective and pragmatic approach can reduce the risk and cost, supports the successful implementation and long-term adoption of change, and the achievement of the change objectives. This course is an action-oriented workshop that provides participants with a mix of organizational change management theory and practical methodologies for documenting, and planning for, organizational change implementation.

  • Understand types of change, including scope, impact, and objectives of change

  • Define organizational changes in a clear, understandable, and useful ways

  • Learn to anticipate the use of a stakeholder-centric approach to organizational change management

  • Define and assessing stakeholders and change impact

  • Determine stakeholder readiness gaps

  • Develop an organizational change plan: inclusive of communications, training/education, and engagement

This course is suitable for anyone with organizational responsibility for considering, planning, and/or implementing change within an organization; participants could include project directors or project managers, and managers or executives having responsibility for change implementation.
