Course Description

This course will provide you with a solid understanding of how business operates and why certain functions are needed to support you in your day-to-day tasks. Through robust class discussion and case analysis you will gain insight into basic business functions. You should be able to build relationships with managers, company administration and subsequently have an edge when applying for promotion.

  • Business Management: Management functions, skills and leadership in a business context

  • Human Resource Management: Issues relating to recruitment, hiring and training

  • Marketing: Consumer behaviour, markets and targets, market research

  • Operations Management: Overview of the factors of production and operational functions

  • Financial Management and Accounting: Types of financing, types of accounting and implications of poor financial management
