EDUC055 - Transformative Leadership in Early Childhood: From Reflection to Commitment
Course Description
Designed for early childhood education (ECE) leaders and managers, especially those in British Columbia., this course explores diverse leadership approaches, systemic thinking, and reflective practices to help participants develop responsive, inclusive leadership tailored to the unique context of early years settings. Participants will build and articulate their own leadership philosophies, focus on identity and social location, and compose a commitment statement to guide professional practice and foster collective, equitable cultures within their centres. Learning is grounded in the BC Early Learning Framework and an Ethics of Care.
Course Outline
- Discover the implications of Ethics of Care and the BC Early Learning Framework, on early childhood education centre operations
- Explore social locations, including identity, intersectionality, and five leadership models
- Reflect on and compose a leadership commitment statement
- Engage in self-reflection activities across all modules to improve insights, self-awareness and action
