Program Description
The Early Childhood Education Leadership Micro-credential is a flexible, career-focused program designed for current and aspiring leaders in early learning environments across British Columbia. This comprehensive program empowers participants to champion inclusion, operational excellence, and relational leadership within diverse early childhood education (ECE) settings. Comprised of three specialized courses, the micro-credential equips learners with the tools, frameworks, and reflective practices needed to navigate evolving sector demands.
Through interactive activities, collaborative discussions, reflective exercises, and case studies to support diverse learning styles and foster practical leadership skills, both self-awareness and collective reflection are woven throughout the program. Real-world scenarios, policy analysis, and community partnerships further ground learning in authentic early childhood education contexts, making knowledge immediately relevant and actionable.

- Discover inclusive, reflective, and relational leadership in early childhood education settings
- Learn to foster deep inclusivity, belonging, and equitable environments
- Explore governance models, regulatory compliance, and centre operations
- Identify ethical, equitable human resource and financial management practices
- Critically engage with the BC Early Learning Framework and Ethics of Care
- Develop leadership identity, self-awareness, and personal philosophy
- Engage in activities centered on building community partnerships and leveraging external supports
- Consider how redesign of centre policies, procedures, and daily routines may result in greater inclusion and access

Delivery Format
This micro-credential offers flexible online courses tailored for working professionals. You will engage in a blended online learning experience, combining synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods. This approach ensures a dynamic learning environment where you can participate in real-time virtual interactions while also having the flexibility to access materials and activities at your own pace.
Anticipated learner effort is 4-6 hours per week, per course.
