TFAC050 - Instructional Skills Workshop
Course Description
Embark on a three-day immersive journey dedicated to enhancing your teaching expertise for face-to-face learning. This participatory workshop celebrates your existing instructional techniques while encouraging you to explore new methods. Through interactive sessions, you'll learn and apply effective teaching skills, fostering an active and engaging learning atmosphere. Expect to participate in innovative activities, facilitate mini-lessons and engage in peer feedback sessions to refine your teaching approach.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of the Instructional Skills Workshop, you will be able to:
- Create useful and practical mini-lesson plans
- Use learning outcomes to inform learners of expectations
- Facilitate participatory mini-lessons
- Explore common educational technologies available for use in a variety of educational settings
- Apply basic assessment techniques to evaluate learning from a lesson
- Give and receive appreciative and growth-oriented feedback
- Consider the diverse learning needs of today's students
- Reflect on your own pedagogical values and practices
Notes
Each of the three days is an intensive eight-hour day. You must attend all three days in their entirety to complete the workshop. You should also expect to spend some time for preparation prior to each day.
Please note that our ISW includes a self-paced online learning module of preparatory learning (approx. 5 hours) that all participants are expected to complete before Day 1.
