Course Description

Do you find yourself avoiding or postponing certain conversations, even when you recognize the need to have them? Sometimes the conversations we need to have can be challenging and we can be unsure on how to successfully have them. Mastering Challenges Conversations will provide you with tools and strategies to build your own personalized action plan for having the conversations that matter within your own unique context. Learners will leave with the knowledge and confidence on how to effectively have meaningful challenging conversations that have a lasting positive impact.  

Course Outline

In this course, you will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of emotional intelligence and strategies and tools for effective communication.
  • Explore why challenging conversations are important and how personal experiences can impact how to manage them.
  • Understand the structure, planning and preparation required for successfully having challenging conversations. 
  • Develop a detailed action plan for successfully having challenging conversations.

Who It’s For

This course is designed for professionals, managers, supervisors or team members looking to improve the effectiveness of their communication for lasting positive change. 

Learner Effort: 

Time requirement: Participants should expect to spend 4-6 hours per week on course activities. A weekly live, virtual synchronous session will be hosted every week. This will be an opportunity for course participants to connect with other learners, practice skills and tools and receive feedback on their challenging conversation action plans.

Notes

Students who have previously completed COMM050 - Difficult Conversations, are not required to complete COMM052 - Mastering Challenging Conversations.
