Course Description
In the Intercultural Foundations for Education (IFE) course, you'll embark on a journey to develop your intercultural teaching and learning competencies. You'll delve into intercultural learning research, applying essential culturally responsive concepts and teaching methods to your practice.
Course Outline
In this course, you will:
- Access interdisciplinary dialogue, instructional materials, and practical learning activities
- Engage with a variety of resources to enrich your teaching approach
- Review the foundational intercultural learning research
- Understand key studies and theories in intercultural education
- Explore innovative practices in intercultural teaching and learning
- Learn about cutting-edge methods and strategies for effective intercultural education
- Apply intercultural teaching competencies to common needs and challenges in diverse learning contexts
- Address real-world issues with practical solutions
- Design a lesson plan, learning activity, and/or an assessment to support intercultural learning in your facilitation context
- Create effective educational materials tailored to diverse audiences
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
- Review the foundational intercultural learning research
- Explore innovative practices in intercultural teaching and learning
- Apply intercultural teaching competencies to common needs and challenges in diverse learning contexts

- Time requirement: You should expect to spend 5-6 hours per week on course activities during each of the four weeks. Continuous, active participation is necessary to make this course a successful learning experience for everyone.
- There may be the occasional synchronous sessions during this course. These sessions are recorded and attendance is not required.
