Course Description
In this course you will develop a strong base of knowledge of the discipline of project management and learn the practical tools to facilitate application of this knowledge to a wide array of projects. The fundamentals of project management taught in this course can be applied to any industry and sector, including public, private and not for profit sectors.
The field of Project Management is a formal discipline and has grown rapidly in importance in organizations worldwide. Project managers are expected to be able to develop strategies and coordinate carefully designed action plans. They must deliver projects on time and within budget, often incorporating complex, dynamic, and changing requirements. There is also a growing need for project management to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations in relation to project outcomes.
Course Outline
Expert project managers use proven best practice techniques and strategies to achieve excellent results. You will learn the fundamental concepts of project management developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and included in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ©).
The course will be broken into three units as follows:

An introduction to the art and science of project management;

A detailed focus on the 10 knowledge areas of project management as described below; and

An applied capstone simulation of the knowledge and skills learned in the course.
In addition to learning project management and analytical skills, you will develop your communication and writing skills through online discussions, stories and the preparation of reports and other assignments. You will also learn to apply the practical fundamentals of project management which consist of ten main areas of knowledge and five process areas:
