Course Description

This course, offered by the Climate Risk Institute and delivered by leading planning and resilience experts, provides in-depth climate risk assessment and adaptation training tailored for the planning profession and municipal and community planning. You will engage with training modules customized for planners that integrate local and regional information on climate impacts, adaptation solutions, and policy frameworks. You'll also build skills in key areas such as engagement and communication on climate issues.

Through applied examples, readings, case studies, and discussions, you'll develop knowledge and skills applicable to climate risk assessment processes, climate change adaptation planning, and the integration of climate change knowledge into other municipal and local priorities such as planning processes, public health planning, or affordable housing. This course also integrates information on Indigenous perspectives and considerations of equity.

Course Outline

In this course, you will:

  • Gain an overview of climate risk assessment and adaptation tailored for the planning profession
  • Integrate local and regional information on climate impacts, adaptation solutions, and policy frameworks
