Course Description

The purpose of the Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) is to provide the foundational theory and skill development required to conduct an Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW). While the facilitator skills acquired in an FDW can be transferred to a variety of situations, the FDW is specific to the ISW and related activities and is not designed to provide training in general facilitation skills.

Course Outline

During the Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW), participants will have three distinct roles: a learner and feedback-giver for each other’s mini-lessons, an instructor of a mini-lesson on three separate occasions and a facilitator for three mini-lesson /feedback cycles. By the end of the FDW, participants should be increasingly confident in their group facilitation skills and their use of video recording equipment necessary to facilitate ISW workshops. More specifically, participants should be able to instruct mini-lessons, participate in giving honest, objective, helpful feedback and facilitate feedback directing groups to focus on the basic elements of mini-lessons observed and the personal goals of instructors.

Prerequisites
